Mobile bermuda and the hosel height nobody measures

Magnolia Grove in March can play tight enough that a driver hosel sitting a few millimeters longer after a sloppy recollar starts clipping turf the player never used to notice. The swing did not change. The stack did.

We are not a launch shop, and we do not pretend bermuda is a fitting variable we chase with cameras. We do see the hardware side of that story every spring. Someone had a ferrule replaced in a hurry — sometimes here, years ago, before Isla made stack height a written field; more often somewhere that grabbed a catalog ring that sat tall. We measure the hosel OD and the seat. We write adapter-plus-ferrule height on the ticket so a later replacement does not stealth-lengthen the club. If a teaching pro in town asked for a specific stack, we will match it. If nobody asked, we match what you walked in with, after cleaning off the swollen bits that were lying about the original number.

Players who only wanted a prettier collar are sometimes unhappy that we talk about height at all. Magnolia Grove in a dry March is why. Bermuda does not care that the ring is the right color. It cares that the hosel now sits where the turf is.

What we will not do with that information

We will not take a stack-height change and call it a launch fitting. We will not send you to the alley to “test” it. We will tell you the number, put it on paper, and send you back to the person who already watches you hit balls. If the catch remains after the stack is honest, that is a lesson or a different club, not another recollar.

We also will not grind a sole to compensate for a collar we made too tall. That is how you inherit two problems. The joint gets corrected to the measured stack. The sole stays the sole you bought.

Azalea City, TimberCreek, Rock Creek — the same tight-lie weeks show up whenever a winter rains less than the Gulf usually rains. The course name on the ticket is only so we remember which story you told. The work is still calipers, a scrap ring, and a written height. Bring the driver that started catching. Leave the cousin’s club in the car. Stack is specific to the adapter and the collar on that head, not to a family of heads that “look the same on Instagram.”
