The crew

Three people who live with bore dust

Hosel Bay is not a rotating “master fitter” badge. It is three people who have been arguing about ferrule OD and epoxy windows since the shop opened over the old tailor’s room in 2018.

Sleeves

Rhea Calloway

Rhea came from a marina rigger’s bench on the Causeway and still treats adapter threads like hardware that has been in spray. She clocks every sleeve before epoxy and will send a head home if the bore is oval and you only wanted a “quick plus one.” She answers sleeve@hoselbay.website when the ticket is hers.

Barrels

Malcolm “Mal” Vickers

Mal runs the lathe. He can tell a factory through-bore from a garage drill by the chatter marks. He grew up in Prichard, still plays Magnolia Grove on a weekday twilight, and will not recut a hosel that does not have wall left to give. Full Bore tickets go on his hook.

Collars & film

Isla Dantzler

Isla keeps the humidity cabinet honest and recollars ferrules to the measured OD, not the bag they arrived in. She is the one who will hold a pour overnight in July even when you have a Saturday game in Fairhope. The $40 hold exists because she refused to pretend in 2019.

Desk

Who picks up (251) 555-0124

Weekdays the phone is on the clapboard desk, usually Rhea before 10:00 and Isla after lunch. Saturday mornings Mal answers if the lathe is quiet. Voicemail is checked when the extractor is off — not during a recut. Email is faster for photos of a crusty adapter.

Apprentices

We do not rotate strangers onto your hosel

If a fourth pair of hands is in the room, they are watching, not pouring. Your ticket names the borer. If Rhea started the sleeve, Rhea torques it in the morning.
